Rad Racing Video Of The Week #6: Onboard The Most Monstrous Maserati

This week’s video features the Maserati Tipo 151, a car basically built for Le Mans. Powered by a 4-liter V8, the Tipo 151 was incredibly fast down the Mulsanne Straight. But like so many other promising cars, it never had the reliability to finish. This car was raced by Briggs Cunningham’s team at Le Mans in 1962, and it is the only surviving Tipo 151. Despite this, it has made many historic racing appearances over the years. This video is from the Monterey Historics in 2015, where it was driven by Derek Hill, son of F1 world champion Phil Hill. Watching Hill hustle this irreplicable car around Laguna Seca is an amazing experience.
